A federal judge appointed by former President Donald Trump in Florida has made the decision to reject his request to delay the start of his criminal trial on May 20. Judge Aileen Cannon has stated that she will reconsider her decision next spring after a hearing takes place on March 1. This ruling comes just three days before Trump’s trial in another federal criminal case is scheduled to begin in Washington, D.C., which is related to the aftermath of the 2020 election. Trump is facing charges for retaining classified government documents after his presidency ended in January 2021. He is accused of taking steps with employees of his Mar-a-Lago club in Florida to prevent government officials from recovering these documents. However, he made a surprising admission on social media, stating that “various people” at the club saw the papers and boxes he took with him, which allegedly contained 1,545 pages of classified material.
