The 2024 Film Independent Spirit Awards are all set to take place on the scenic beach in Santa Monica this Sunday, February 25th. This prestigious event honors the best in independent film and television productions. The ceremony will be hosted by the talented Aidy Bryant, known for her work on Saturday Night Live. The show kicks off at 5 p.m. ET/2 p.m. PT and will be available for live streaming on various platforms such as IMDb, Film Independent, and Film Independent’s X channel (formerly Twitter). An impressive lineup of presenters will be handing out trophies during the ceremony. Some of the notable names include Joel Kim Booster, Adam Brody, Sterling K. Brown, Emma Corrin, Anna Kendrick, Jude Law, Rashida Olayiwola, Emma Roberts, and many more. Lily Gladstone, an Honorary Chair and nominee at the Spirit Awards, will also be gracing the event. Lily recently clinched a win at the SAG Awards, making her a strong contender for the upcoming Oscars.
This year, the Spirit Awards’ film nominations are dominated by A24’s “Past Lives,” Netflix’s “May December,” and Amazon MGM Studio’s “American Fiction,” each receiving five nominations. These three films are in the running for the coveted Best Feature award along with Searchlight’s “All of Us Strangers,” Sony Pictures Classics’ “We Grown Now,” and Mubi’s “Passages.” Notably, last year, A24’s “Everything Everywhere All at Once” emerged victorious in the Best Feature category and also secured a total of seven wins at the Spirits, setting the stage for a successful stint at the Oscars.
