AMD recently revealed the next generation of its processors at the Computex 2024 event, introducing four new Ryzen 9000 series chipsets specifically designed for gamers and heavier workloads. These CPUs are based on AMD’s latest Zen 5 architecture, showcasing integrated GPUs and Neural Processing Units (NPUs). The chipmaker asserts that the Ryzen 9000 series desktop processors have the potential to enhance performance by up to 16 percent compared to their predecessors.
Alongside the Ryzen 9000 series, AMD also introduced the Ryzen AI 300 series, which includes the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 and the Ryzen AI 9 365 CPUs. The Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 chipset boasts 12 high-performance Zen 5 cores and 24 threads, reaching a maximum clock speed of 5.1GHz. Additionally, it features Radeon 890M graphics and a 36MB cache. On the other hand, the Ryzen AI 9 365 chipset consists of 10-core high-performance Zen 5 cores and 12 threads, with a maximum clock speed of 5.0GHz, paired with Radeon 880M graphics and a 34MB cache.
Aside from using Zen 5 architecture for the CPU, AMD leveraged the XDNA2 architecture to construct the NPU responsible for powering AI experiences for desktop users. Both processors are equipped with NPUs capable of 50 Tera operations per second (TOPS). These cutting-edge chipsets are expected to hit the market in July, and consumers can catch glimpses of them in the Copilot+ PCs showcased at Microsoft’s Surface event.
During the event, AMD also introduced the Ryzen 9000 series chipsets, comprising the Ryzen 9 9950X, Ryzen 9 9900X, Ryzen 7 9700X, and Ryzen 5 9600X CPUs. The Ryzen 9 9950X stands out as the most powerful processor in the series, equipped with 16 high-performance Zen 5 cores, a 32-thread CPU, and 80MB of L2+L3 cache. With a base clock speed of 4.3GHz and a maximum clock speed of 5.7GHz, this processor is tailored for gamers, promising high frame rates, smooth gameplay, and enhanced performance across a wide range of AAA and esports titles.

AMD asserts that the Ryzen 9000 series desktop processors will not only deliver improved gaming experiences but also elevate tasks such as 3D rendering, animation design, and product visualization.
