Kevin Brophy, a talented actor known for his roles in television series and films, passed away on May 11 at the age of 70. Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, Brophy’s family later moved to the San Fernando Valley and then to Del Mar, California where he attended high school. After graduating from the California Institute of the Arts (Cal Arts) in Valencia, Brophy began his acting career, eventually landing the lead role in the television series Lucan (1977-1978).
Television and Film Career
In addition to his role in Lucan, Brophy also appeared in notable films such as The Long Riders (1980) and the horror classic Hell Night (1981). Throughout his career, he had guest roles in various television series including The Love Boat, M*A*S*H, Growing Pains, The Hardy Boys Mysteries, and Hart to Hart. Brophy’s versatility as an actor allowed him to take on a wide range of characters, making him a familiar face in both television and film.
Despite battling stage 4 cancer for a decade, Brophy continued to work in the entertainment industry and later transitioned to roles in the hospitality sector, working at prestigious hotels such as the Hotel Bel Air and the Luxe Hotel in Beverly Hills. He is survived by his wife, Amy Prettyman Brophy, his mother Carol, brother John (Wendy), his children Kelly, Michael (Lindsey), Megan, Ryan, and grandchildren Jarrah and Saylor. A Celebration of Life in honor of Kevin Brophy will be held on Saturday, June 29 at St. Cyril’s Church in Encino, California.

His contributions to television and film will continue to be remembered and celebrated by fans and colleagues alike.
