The Trump campaign later entered a “complete communications lockdown” to ensure the safety and security of their staff.
President Joe Biden was briefed on the incident and addressed it in remarks on camera later that evening. He expressed his hope to speak with President Trump personally and acknowledged the seriousness of the situation. When asked about the nature of the shooting, Biden refrained from speculating without further information.
