By substituting Airbus A321 narrow-body planes with Boeing 777-200 aircraft, American Airlines can now offer more seating capacity, prioritizing the safe transfer of passengers away from the island.
Southwest Airlines has also recognized the urgency and has expanded its services, offering flights to Hawaii from the U.S. mainland as well as intra-island flights. United Airlines, on the other hand, has canceled its inbound flights to Kahului Airport for Thursday.
