Apple has officially launched the upgraded 24-inch iMac, equipped with the newly announced M3 chip, during its recent Scary Fast event. This release marks an improvement over the previous M1 chip-based iMac, offering enhanced performance and efficiency. The 24-inch iMac with M3 chip features the same design as its predecessor launched three years ago, but the internal specifications have been significantly upgraded.

The new 24-inch iMac with M3 chip boasts an 8-core CPU and up to a 10-core GPU, promising up to twice the performance compared to the M1-based iMac. Not only does it provide superior power, but it also ensures improved energy efficiency. Apple’s implementation of the M3 chip, based on the A17 Pro chip used in the iPhone 15 Pro, enhances performance and optimizes power consumption.

Apple offers two configurations for the 24-inch iMac with M3 chip. The base model starts at Rs. 1,34,900 (Rs. 1,29,900 for education) and includes an 8-core CPU, 8-core GPU, 8GB memory, and 256GB SSD storage. This model also provides two Thunderbolt ports and includes the Magic Keyboard and Magic Mouse. The alternative configuration, featuring a 10-core GPU, begins at Rs. 1,54,900 (Rs. 1,44,900 for education). It includes the same 8-core CPU, 8GB RAM, and 256GB SSD storage as the base model, along with Gigabit Ethernet and two USB 3 ports. Additionally, this variant comes with a Magic Keyboard with Touch ID and Magic Mouse. Both configurations are available in a range of vibrant colors, such as green, pink, blue, and silver.

Pre-orders for the new 24-inch iMac with M3 chip are now open on the Apple website. Starting on November 7, customers can purchase the iMac through the website, Apple Store, and authorized resellers.

Technical Specifications

The 24-inch iMac with M3 chip retains the familiar design of its predecessor, but it offers substantial performance enhancements. The M3 chip features an 8-core CPU and up to a 10-core GPU, capable of supporting up to 24GB unified RAM. This configuration enables the iMac to achieve twice the performance of the M1 chip and incorporates the latest advancements in Apple’s technology. Notably, the M3 chip is manufactured using a 3nm process, resulting in improved efficiency.

In terms of graphics capabilities, the 24-inch iMac with M3 chip supports hardware-accelerating mesh shading and facilitates ray tracing. Furthermore, it incorporates a 16-core Neural Engine, enhancing machine learning capabilities and enabling faster processing of complex algorithms.

Display and Connectivity

The all-in-one 24-inch iMac features a brilliant Retina Display with 4.5K resolution and a brightness of 500 nits. It offers improved connectivity with Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3. The iMac provides up to four USB Type-C ports, two Thunderbolt ports, and Gigabit Ethernet support, accommodating a wide range of peripherals.

The integrated 1080p FaceTime camera ensures high-quality video calls, while the six-speaker setup delivers immersive audio with support for Spatial Audio and Dolby Atmos. Additionally, the iMac ships with the latest macOS Sonoma operating system.
