Critically Examining the Adventure-Comedy Film Las Tres Sisters

Myriad Pictures has recently acquired the U.S. rights to the adventure-comedy film Las Tres Sisters, previously known as Sisters, with plans to release it in theaters in the first quarter of 2025. The film stars Cristo Fernández, Marta Méndez Cross, Valeria Maldonado, and Virginia Novello – a talented cast with some notable credits to their names.

Las Tres Sisters follows three sisters who come together after years of estrangement to complete their grandmother’s pilgrimage through rural Mexico. The eldest sister, Maria, played by Marta Méndez Cross, discovers she has breast cancer and decides to bring her sisters Lucia and Sofia, portrayed by Valeria Maldonado and Virginia Novello, on a journey to find a miracle. With little hiking experience and their lives in disarray, the trio embarks on a sentimental and comical adventure along the “camino.”

The film not only showcases a heartwarming family dynamic on screen but also reflects a similar camaraderie behind the scenes. Executive produced by Cristo Fernández, who also stars in the movie, Las Tres Sisters brought together a talented group of filmmakers who wore multiple hats in the production process.

Mexican filmmaker Mar Novo takes the reins as the director of Las Tres Sisters, working with a script penned by a team of writers including Valeria Maldonado, Marta Méndez Cross, and Youssef Delara. The collaborative effort of these writers adds depth and authenticity to the story, providing a unique perspective on the journey of the three sisters.

The film received the LFI Works in Progress Initiative Award from the Latino Film Institute, highlighting its potential and significance in the industry.
