House Democrats recently gathered for a closed-door meeting to discuss the future of President Joe Biden’s reelection bid. The meeting took place following Biden’s lackluster debate performance against former President Donald Trump, which raised concerns among party members about the viability of his candidacy. During the meeting, lawmakers were reportedly asked to refrain from using their phones, indicating the seriousness of the discussions taking place. He believes that he is the best candidate to take on Trump in the upcoming election and has focused on garnering support from key constituencies within the party, including the Congressional Black Caucus and the Congressional Hispanic Caucus.
Democratic leaders, including House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, have issued statements in support of the Biden-Harris ticket. They have emphasized their unwavering commitment to backing Biden in his reelection bid, signaling a unified front within the party leadership.
Outside the Democratic National Committee building, a group of protesters, purportedly from the National Republican Campaign Committee, raised questions about Biden’s fitness for office. The signs held by the protesters questioned whether Biden was capable of fulfilling the duties of the presidency, adding another layer of scrutiny to his candidacy.
