Luis Gerardo Méndez is set to take on a dual role in the upcoming Netflix movie, Technoboys. Not only will he be starring as the lead singer of a boyband, but he will also be co-directing the film alongside Gerardo Gatica. The movie, produced by Cine Vaquero, Panorama, and Bengala, follows the story of a boyband making a comeback after two decades. However, they soon realize that the music industry has drastically changed, and they must navigate through a new world of rival groups and unfamiliar territory.
Méndez expressed his long-time desire to step behind the camera and direct a feature film. He has previously directed episodes of Club de Cuervos and saw directing Technoboys as a natural progression in his career. Collaborating with Gerardo Gatica, his partner at Cine Vaquero, has been a fulfilling experience for Méndez. The script for Technoboys was penned by Alexandro Aldrete, while Gabriel Nuncio and Ximena Calvo serve as executive producers on the project. Pablo Zimbrón and Gerardo Gatica are the producers of the film. The years of dreaming and developing the story alongside Aldrete and Nuncio have culminated in the realization of Technoboys. Following Technoboys, Luis Gerardo Méndez is set to star in Skincare, a film by Austin Peters, alongside Elizabeth Banks, Nathan Fillion, and Lewis Pullman. Additionally, he has recently wrapped filming on the Amazon limited series Stanley.
