The guide also provides conversation tips, grammar app recommendations, questions to ask, and even a list of jokes to make the victim laugh and like the scammer.
Romance scam reports increased by more than a fifth (22%) in 2021 compared to the previous year. Lloyds Bank reports that the average amount lost by victims was nearly £7,000, with victims aged 65 to 74 losing an average of over £13,000. Detective Constable Rebecca Mason warns that anyone can fall victim to romance scams, regardless of their age or gender.
