President Biden Expresses Support for Israel After Deadly Attack

President Joe Biden recently had a phone call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to express his support for Israel after the deadly attack by Palestinian Islamist group Hamas. In the call, Biden made it clear that the United States stands ready to offer all appropriate means of support to the Government and people of Israel. He emphasized that terrorism is never justified and that Israel has the right to defend itself and its people.

Following the phone call, President Biden held a public briefing to reiterate his support for Israel. He mentioned that he had been actively engaged with the situation since early in the morning, speaking with Congress members, the national security team, the military, and diplomats to ensure that Israel has the necessary support. Biden stated unequivocally that the United States stands with Israel and will not fail to have their back.

In response to the surprise attack by Hamas, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared that his country is “at war.” This declaration further escalated the long-standing conflict in the region.
