Hosted by the charming Tom Papa, the ceremony is set to announce winners in seven competitive categories, paying tribute to industry giants like JJ Abrams, who will receive the Filmmaker of the Year award, and Joe Earl, known for his work on American Horror Story and Six Feet Under, who will be honored with the CAS Career Achievement Award.

This year’s highly anticipated Live Action Motion Picture category boasts craftsmen from two of the five Best Sound Oscar nominees – Universal’s Oppenheimer and Netflix’s Maestro. Joining them are contenders like Warner Bros’ Barbie, Neon’s Ferrari, and Apple’s Killers of the Flower Moon. Notably, last year’s winner in this category, Paramount’s Top Gun: Maverick, went on to secure victory at the Oscars as well. Alongside Oppenheimer and Maestro, this year’s Oscar contenders in the Sound category include Disney’s The Creator, Paramount’s Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One, and A24’s The Zone of Interest.

In addition to the marquee categories, there are several other exciting races to keep an eye on during the ceremony.
