YouTube, the popular video streaming service owned by Alphabet, has recently announced the rollout of several new features and design updates. According to a blog post by YouTube Product Management Director Matthew Darby, users can expect three dozen improvements across different platforms. These updates aim to enhance the overall user experience by introducing features such as Stable Volume, better video seeking, improved liking and subscribing options, and the addition of a new You tab.
One of the notable features YouTube is introducing is Stable Volume. This feature aims to eliminate the sudden volume jumps that often occur while watching videos. Stable Volume is enabled by default and can be found in the video settings menu under Additional settings > Stable volume. Users will no longer have to worry about adjusting the volume multiple times during their video-watching sessions.
YouTube is also making improvements to video seeking, making it easier and more precise for users. When watching a video in portrait or landscape mode, users can tap and hold on the right side of the screen to play the video at twice the speed. This feature allows for quicker navigation through videos without compromising the viewing experience.
Moreover, YouTube is implementing haptic feedback, which enables users to move their finger while scrubbing the video seek bar, instantly taking them back to the point they were previously watching. This intuitive gesture-based control makes it effortless to navigate within a video and find specific moments.
The latest updates on YouTube also aim to improve interactions between viewers and video creators. When prompted by the creators to like a video and subscribe to their channel, viewers will now see the relevant buttons displayed with a visual cue. Additionally, interactive animations will accompany user interactions with these buttons. This feature enhances user engagement and encourages viewers to interact more with the content they enjoy.
YouTube is introducing a new tab called “You” that can be found at the bottom-right corner of the screen, replacing the Library tab. This new tab is dedicated to housing previously watched videos, playlists, downloads, and purchases. Additionally, it provides easy access to settings related to the user’s account and details about their channel. The You tab provides a more personalized experience, allowing users to quickly access their favorite content and manage their YouTube preferences efficiently.
Enhanced Music Search Capability for Android Users
Android users will be delighted to know that the YouTube app will now support a music search feature. Users can simply sing, hum, or play a song, and the app will use AI technology to identify the track and provide search results. This feature, already available in the Google app, makes it convenient for users to discover music and search for their favorite songs without typing a single word. The music search functionality will gradually roll out to Android smartphones over the next few weeks.
