YouTube Music Introduces Live Lyrics Feature for Enhanced Listening Experience

YouTube Music, the popular music streaming app, has recently introduced a new feature aimed at enhancing the listening experience for its users. The app is reportedly rolling out live lyrics to all its users across Android and iOS platforms. This new feature is akin to the live lyrics option available on Spotify when playing a song. While the feature was initially spotted in April, it has now been widely rolled out to users. However, it is important to note that live lyrics may not be available for all songs just yet.

According to a report by 9to5Google, YouTube Music is gradually rolling out its live lyrics feature to users on both Android and iOS platforms. With this new feature, the line currently being played in a song will be highlighted in white, while the remaining lyrics will be visible in a faint gray shade. Gadgets360, an independent tech platform, was able to verify the live lyrics feature on the YouTube Music app.

To access the live lyrics feature on YouTube Music, users can simply play any song that has lyrics attached to it, and then navigate to the Lyrics tab in the Now Playing screen. The report also mentions that the live lyrics feature is available in YouTube Music version 6.15 on Android and version 6.16 on iOS. If users encounter difficulties in accessing the live lyrics, they can try force shutting the app by swiping it away from the Recents screen.

It is worth noting that the live lyrics feature may not be active for all songs at this time. Therefore, users may have to wait a little longer to access live lyrics for their favorite songs if the feature is not currently available. The initial discovery of this feature was made in April, with a previous report revealing that live lyrics significantly enhance the text size and spacing compared to the static lyrics available on YouTube Music.

In June 2020, Spotify introduced the live lyrics feature in select countries, including India. It later expanded to more markets by November 2021. YouTube Music’s introduction of live lyrics can be seen as a move to provide a similar experience to its users as that of Spotify, one of its main competitors in the music streaming industry.

YouTube Music’s rollout of the live lyrics feature demonstrates its commitment to delivering an enhanced listening experience to its users. By providing live lyrics, the app allows users to follow along with the song in real time, enhancing their engagement and enjoyment. Although the feature is not yet available for all songs, it is expected to expand over time, ensuring that users can access live lyrics for a wider range of tracks. As YouTube Music continues to evolve, it is clear that it is constantly striving to provide innovative features that cater to the preferences and needs of its users.
